The songs behind the spectacle

The Shanghai announcement names Teenage Dream, California Gurls and Dark Horse among the songs audiences can expect. Those titles span different versions of Perry’s pop persona: the bright, immediate hooks of her early arena years and the darker, more rhythm-driven material that followed. They also explain why this is an arena show rather than an intimate album recital.

The new chapter is 143, her sixth studio album, released in September 2024. Its numerical title is an expression of love, and the record makes its intentions quite plain through dance-pop. Lifetimes is itself one of the album’s tracks. The tour therefore has two jobs: introduce that world and make space for the older songs that many people will have bought their ticket to hear.
